Musicians: Cathy Irons (violin), Sophie Buxton (viola), Tomas Hurnik (cello)
Programme: Schubert, Haydn, Handel-Halvorsen, Boccherini, Bach, Telemann, Kleczynski

Christchurch-based string trio, Tres Cordes will travel to Oxford to share elegant classical chamber music with the local community. All members of the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra, they produce a very well-blended pure sound in this programme which includes Beethoven, Schubert, Hadyn and Boccherini.

The fiery and beautiful Handel-Halvorsen duo for violin and cello will also impress with its musical and spectacular technical demands.
The group consists of Cathy Irons (violin), Sophie Buxton (viola) and Tomas Hurnik (cello) who have been performing together since 2007. They have performed in Christchurch, in Akaroa and on CTV. They are recording their first CD later this year. They are influenced by the stylistic expertise and experience of Tomas as they aim to produce the clear, true sound of authentic classical music
Tres Cordes is a French word meaning ‘three strings’. It is also used to describe the release of the pedal on a piano, enabling the hammers to play on all strings, creating a rich, full, resonant tone.
